Coffee on me!

Jesus and coffee....... I love them both! Funny that we can use that one word to describe our attitude toward our master and our beverage choice. I wanted to share a cool note someone sent to us in which a North Pointer used a cup of coffee to SHOW the love of Jesus.

Dear North Point Church,

A couple of days ago, someone in the car ahead of me at the Clemson Road Starbucks bought my coffees and left behind a card with this e-mail. I just wanted to say "thank you" for your generosity!

Thanks again!

Best regards,

Eric

Now I don't know this person and I may never meet him, but I do know that if we all become the kind of Christ followers that look for opportunities every day to point people to Christ, our community would change one life at a time!

Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. Eph. 5:1-2

Make this your prayer today and see what happens!

Peace

Its a good day when.......

Hey guys,

Glad you dropped by today. This is probably the first time most North Pointers have heard about my blog, so welcome! Wanted to share a testimony that encouraged me this week, and I know it will encourage you too.

Its a good day when we experience a divine appointment from God and make Him smile! Here's the story of a good day:

Pastor John,

I am hesitant in sending this because I never feel comfortable due to my many faults. However, tonight we went and visited someone in the hospital, and afterwards I told my wife the weather was nice so I would like to sit on a bench for a while. It was about midnight and as soon as we sat down a gentleman walked up and asked if he could sit with us. We said sure and he explained he was new to the area and HIV positive. He said he had nothing to eat tonight and could not take his medicine. I had a few dollars and hoped it would help. Then he said he would not be able to get into a shelter until the 29th. I could see he only had a backpack and was wearing shorts and a tshirt. I asked if a blanket would help because for some reason I had one in my truck. When I went to get it, I found a sweatshirt I had and offered it to him and wished him well. As we were leaving he said we were a Godsend and then as I was driving off, it was if someone was reading to me the verse of needing food and you fed me, naked and you clothed me, sick and you visited me. I am not saying this to boast because I don't find myself worthy of it but think it strange of how situations sometimes present themselves.

This story makes me want to shout and do a few fist-pumps like Tiger Woods. The really cool thing......this could (or should) happen all the time. Not necessaryily with a homeless person, but simply meeting a need or making a person's day brighter. I believe God is working all around us and presents us with divine appointments every day. We must have the spiritual eyes and ears to hear and sense God in order to capture those moments. Spending time walking with Jesus every day, throughout the day, will help us develop and cultivate that spiritual sensitivity!

Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. Psalm 25:4-5

Come back tomorrow for another short story that brightened someone's day!

All Out,
John

Sunday..... the good, bad, and ugly!

Church- went well. Music was pretty good without our regular lead instrument. Quite a few guests from Nick @ Night. Went to CC's for a quick lunch afterward (love the pizza buffet)!

Message- felt good about it. Nicodemus came to Jesus at night and discovered how to see the kingdom of Heaven. Have you shared that truth with someone this week? Month? Year? Told my story again (been about 3 years) about taking off my basketball shorts with my sweats and running out onto the court in my underwear in 6th grade. Wasn't funny then, but pretty histerical now!

Made my day, so stinkin funny- Played par 3 golf with some friends. On one hole, I hit the green but had a long putt. I noticed a gray piece of gravel, or small pebble right in front of the hole directly in my line. I asked a buddy to pick it up on his way by to his ball. He obliged without hesitation. Only..... it wasn't a pebble, it was fresh bird crap that squished between his fingers when he picked it up. I laughed so hard I about had my own accident. Thanks for the laugh SC! It made my week.

God held off.....

God held off a boat load of rain and lightning to allow us to have an awesome Nick @ Night carnival at the church. We had about 350 come out, and absolutely EVERYONE had a blast. It was so relaxed and it gave us a chance to really get to know some of the families that brought kids this week. BTW...... 16 first time decisions this week, and several more to follow up on!

I'm real excited about what God is doing in Columbia and the part our church planter, Jay Hardwick is going to play. They are really gaining traction and I'm stoked. Pray with us for revival in Columbia.

Going to bed for 14 hours or so! Out.

Tonight I was reminded.........

Tonight I was reminded why I do what I do. This week over 100 volunteers have given blood, sweat, and tears to make our Nick @ Night possible. We've had about 200 kids come through, and tonight....... children crossed the line of faith to join the family of Christ. One little boy filled out a response card with tears in his eyes. I don't know him and I can't tell you his name, but we'll be together in eternity. That's what this whole deal is all about!

I'm tired, I'm hungry, and I have a mixture of whip cream, strawberry sauce and peanut butter caked in several openings in my body above the waste.......but it was all worth it!

My prayer tonight is that I never become to important or busy to help reach a kid for Christ through crazy nasty games and fun! I pray that many families will be touched by Jesus next. Tomorrow night is family carnival night. We'll have more fun, and share the gospel with whole families! What could be better?!
